Story from Jam Press (Most Haunted Doll)Pictured: Visitor's back with visible scratches.'I own Britain's most haunted doll – people flee the room in tears when she scratches them and pulls their hair'Visitors claim they were scratched and had their hair pulled after gathering to see a doll dubbed Britain's "most haunted".Elizabeth, a porcelain bridal doll, has already built a notorious reputation online after years of alleged paranormal incidents. But now the doll's owner, Lee Steer, says a new wave of strange encounters during two public open days has left even sceptics unsettled. The 40-year-old, who owns the Haunted Objects Museum in Rotherham, South Yorks, where the doll is kept, claims dozens of people in recent months have reported unusual experiences."Quite a few people have refused to be in the same room as Elizabeth during public museum events, especially at night," Lee, from Rotherham, South Yorks, told creatorzine.com."Some visitors feel uncomfortable almost immediately and choose to leave rather than stay near her."The incidents were spread across both days, but there did seem to be a period where activity became noticeably more concentrated, around 2pm seemed to be when the most reports started coming in."On the first day, there were cold drafts, temperature changes being picked up on the paranormal equipment, movement involving a pram, and two separate visitors claiming their hair had been pulled."On the second day, the bell-trigger equipment appeared much more active and responsive."We also had a visitor report their hair bobble being tugged, and another person noticed their bag had opened unexpectedly while near the doll."There were visitors who became overwhelmed enough to leave the room, and in some cases even step outside the building entirely to calm themselves down before returning."Once other guests started sharing their own experiences, the atmosphere naturally became much more intense, and for some people that clearly heightened the fear factor."Elizabeth, believed to be a Franklin Mint Gibson Girl bridal collector doll dating from the late 1980s, first hit headlines years ago after previous owner Debbie Merrick claimed disturbing incidents began happening in her home.According to Lee, the doll had originally been discovered in a skip before ending up in an antiques shop, where Debbie later bought it.She allegedly experienced unexplained fire alarms, moved objects and mysterious scratches before eventually listing the doll on eBay simply as a "creepy doll".Lee purchased Elizabeth for Ł866 after stumbling across the auction. He said: "For reasons I still can't fully explain, I felt drawn to the doll and decided to bid, without fully realising I was bidding on a doll that was already attracting serious press interest."Over the years, more than 30 individuals have claimed unusual experiences after being around the doll, including unexplained scratches, burns, emotional distress, strange dreams, and other unsettling incidents."Since then, Elizabeth has become one of Britain's best-known allegedly haunted objects. But Lee says the most recent incidents have been among the strangest yet.During special daytime opening events at the museum, visitors travelled from across the UK specifically to spend time near the doll.Several people reported phones freezing, restarting or refusing to record near the doll.Lee said: "Since I bought Elizabeth, lights flicker, objects move, items are knocked over, and strange disturbances happening when there's no obvious explanation."What's always stood out to me is that it often seems to happen when something new is introduced into the museum, almost like a jealous reaction."Whether that's paranormal or something else, those moments are definitely the creepiest to witness firsthand."One particularly unsettling moment involved a child's pram which visitors claimed appeared to move on its own.Another example, he claims, involved perfume bottles being "thrown across a room with force" rather than simply falling over accidentally.According to Lee, a man who had spent time around Elizabeth later collapsed during a Ouija board session in another part of the building.Lee insists he remains sceptical despite years spent investigating the doll.He said: "I think scepticism is healthy."In some cases there may well be logical explanations such as accidental scratches, environmental factors, or people simply not noticing when something happened."What makes it interesting to me is when similar reports keep coming from different people, often independently of each other."I'm not here to force a paranormal explanation on anyone, but after seeing the number of repeated claims over the years, I do think it's worth documenting and investigating rather than dismissing outright."I fully understand that in today's world, with social media, editing, and AI, people question everything and rightly so."But for me, what matters most is what I've personally seen and experienced in real life that I genuinely can't explain through normal means."Following the latest incidents, Lee says stricter rules may soon be introduced for guests entering Elizabeth's room, including requests not to provoke or mock the doll.Visitors are forbidden from touching Elizabeth.Despite the doll's sinister reputation, Lee says he has no plans to get rid of her, despite believing she could be dangerous.Lee said: "If ghosts or paranormal energy are genuinely real, then Elizabeth could potentially be dangerous simply because of the type of incidents people have associated with her over the years."It's not just scratches, it's the larger disturbances that make you think."There was even an incident at a London train station where the departure boards went down while travelling with her."That could absolutely be coincidence or bad timing, and I'm honest about that."But when you start seeing enough strange incidents stack up around one object, you naturally begin asking bigger questions."Whatever is happening around Elizabeth, whether paranormal or something else, I'm interested in understanding it rather than getting rid of her."ENDSEDITOR'S NOTE: Video Usage Licence: (EXCLUSIVE) We have obtained an exclusive licence from the copyright holder.
